The finished Coffer Slab has an appearance of being waffled and this is why it is also called the Waffled slab.

The waffle slab or two-way joist slab is a reinforced system covered with in situ concrete.
Ribs between the coffers are reinforced creating concrete beams spanning two ways to support the concrete slab.

The coffer slab is ideal for longer span slabs, carrying heavier loads, and having a more solid frame to work on.
